Bragg Creek Medical Practice is a computerized clinic, including electronic medical charting, to serve you better. However, rest assured, your privacy is a priority concern for us and no information, held electronically or otherwise, will be released without your written consent.

Digital imaging/X-Ray

We use digital radiography in order to offer a higher level of patient care and deliver better and more comprehensive medical care to our patients. The x-rays, CTs, MRIs, etc that you are sent to take at various facilities around the province will be digitally and securely transferred to our clinic computers. There, we can review them and discuss them with our patients.

Digital laboratory results

Most lab results are digitally and securely transferred to our patients' electronic medical record. The advantage of this system is that the results will appear on your medical chart on the same day as they are reported by the laboratory, thus avoiding delays. Each result is individually reviewed by Dr. Mal.

Faxing prescriptions

One of the advantages of having an electronic medical record is that your prescriptions may be faxed directly to our local pharmacy. As our local pharmacists are part of our health care team, they will be able to review the prescription before you go to pick it up, thus ensuring that the medication and dosing are correct for you. This checking system decreases medication mistakes that can otherwise occur and allows a physician-pharmacist expert collaboration.

Email

Email is not considered to be a secure form of communication. Our clinic will only utilize email for general inquiries. Medical advice and prescription refills will not be provided via email with no exceptions.

Pictures

Our clinic utilizes digital pictures in a few ways. First, your picture will be taken and attached to your electronic medical record. This will allow our physician and staff to provide better individualized care by putting a face to a name. Secondly, pictures may occasionally be taken so that rapid specialist consult can be provided by our Calgary colleagues (dermatology, internal medicine, etc). You will be asked to sign a consent form stating that you agree to have your picture taken upon becoming a patient of the Bragg Creek Medical Practice. You may also decline to have pictures taken.
