Patient Policies

New Patients

Your first appointment in our clinic will typically be an extended visit (20 minutes per adult family member.) The purpose of this visit is to orient you to our facilities and services, as well as to get acquainted with you as a person and patient. During this appointment we may also find time to address one minor medical concern. If you have a medical concern that cannot be properly addressed during the initial visit another appointment will be booked. Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled time with the doctor to begin filling out paperwork.

Appointments

Our appointment slots are ten minutes in duration. This time period is typically enough to address one major medical issue. If you wish to discuss multiple medical issues, or if you know in advance your medical issue will require more time, the front staff would be happy to book a longer appointment for you. This is why it is important to let the front staff know the purpose of your visit when booking your appointment. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early to allow time for checking-in.

Occasionally Dr. Mal may have an urgent or emergency case that runs into the next time slot. If this happens please have patience, you will still be seen by the doctor. You may opt to rebook your appointment if you cannot wait.

Currently appointments must be made in-person or via telephone.

Missed Appointments

We feel very strongly that time is valuable to everyone. Late patients and no-shows cause for delays in seeing the doctor for everyone. If you are more than 10 minutes late we reserve the right to cancel your appointment as a no-show. Patients missing appointments will be billed directly, according to the rules of the clinic you agreed to when becoming a patient.

Emergency Care

We regret that the current size of our facility does not permit the installation of all the necessary equipment and tools for treating emergency cases. Examples of urgent cases we can treat are: minor lacerations, minor burns and sprains. We try to keep an appointment slot open each day for these semi-urgent cases. Please call our office and specify your need for urgent care. We recommend using any of the local ERs for medical emergencies.
