About Dr. Mal

Dr. Malgorzata Kaminska (Dr. Mal) was born in Poland. After moving through Algeria, Germany, and France her family settled in the Ottawa area. She completed her elementary and secondary education in French, in which she remains fluent along with English and her Polish native tongue.

After gaining her honours degree in Biochemistry combined with three years of Chemical Engineering at the University of Ottawa, she moved straight on to the University of Toronto Medical School. Realizing that small-town medicine was her favoured practice she graduated from the Lethbridge-based Rural Alberta South Family Medicine Residency Program, which allowed her to experience life in small towns all across Alberta.

Dr. Mal practiced for nearly a year in the small town of Bassano, Alberta, after graduating in June 2007. While she retains warm memories of her coworkers and patients, she decided to move to Bragg Creek for personal and professional reasons. Dr. Mal has special interests in Sports Medicine and Palliative Care. She continues to offer and increase her repertoire of specialized gynecological skills. Dr. Mal also continues to practice emergency medicine in rural Alberta on a part-time basis.

Dr. Mal is excited to be involved in undergraduate medical student teaching at the University of Calgary Medical School, as well as helping international medical graduates through the MCAP/AIMG programs. She is also pursuing a Master’s of Public Health through the University of London, UK.
